Book Launch: 'Delusion and Dreams' by Maria Savva

I am delighted to welcome my very good virtual friend and author Maria Savva back to 'The Secret Writer', as part of the official  launch tour for her latest book  'Delusion and Dreams'.

'Delusion and Dreams' is a collection of twelve stories that involve betrayal, greed, revenge, deception, dreams, and courage.

We all struggle to find our way. What you see isn't necessarily all there is. This collection takes you into the grey area, because the world is never just black and white.

Life is all about perspective. One person's delusion is another person's dream.

I will now let Maria herself, introduce you to the stories that can be found within this marvelous collection!

Delusion and Dreams - The stories

I thought it would be nice to write a few sentences about each of the stories included in my new collection. I’ll list them in the order that they appear in the book.

Delusion and Dreams is a short story in four parts. Part I is the first story in the collection. We meet Jack, a man who is still in love with someone he knew twenty years ago, and despite being married and divorced in the intervening years he has never forgotten Jessie. In this part of the story, we find out why he has gone back to find her.

Hair today, Gone Tomorrow is a bit of fun, really. Not to be taken too seriously. Although having said that, although it’s meant to be light-hearted, there is also a sad side to it, just to keep things balanced. Samuel is nearly 70 and thinks he may have found love for the second time in his life. Is Clare the one for him? The reference to ‘hair’ in the title is because Samuel wears a wig, and this causes quite a few problems for him in the story...

Happy New Year, despite the jolly title, is a dark tale. Jonathan is accused of the murder of a young women he spent New Year’s Eve with. But what is the real story behind it?

Friends and Neighbours is a story in 2 parts. In the first part we meet Jill and her neighbours Rachel and Rob. Jill feels so lucky to have such friendly neighbours after the death of her husband. Her coffee dates with Rachel are something she looks forward to. Jill finds out something about her neighbours that she would never have suspected.

Delusion and Dreams - Part II, the second installment in this series, focuses on Jessie, the girl Jack is obsessed with. How has her life changed in the twenty years since she knew Jack, and will she be willing to rekindle their friendship?

Getting Away With It, is quite a light-hearted story. What would you do if you were guaranteed a million pounds, no one would ever know but you have to use deception to get it? Find out what Scott does when faced with this decision, and how he feels about it...

Friends and Neighbours - Revisited, is part II of the story. This is much darker than the first part. We look at Rachel and Robert’s story.

Seeing is Believing, is a look at how sometimes we can see what we want to see rather than what is real.

Delusion and Dreams - Part III, takes a look at another character’s life. Frances knew Jack and Jessie at college. Jack influenced her life in ways he could never have imagined. They meet again and the tables seem to have turned. Will Frances forgive him?

Merry-go-round - In this story, we meet Mandy, mother of three young children. She compares her life to a merry-go-round. Things appear to be changing for the better, but how long will it last?

Courage - James is a boy with many phobias. He lacks courage. When he starts a new school, he has to deal with the bullies. Will he finally face his fears or be defeated?

Delusion and Dreams - Part IV - In this final part of the story, we again look at life through Jack’s eyes. After finding Jessie again and meeting Frances, how has his life changed?
